Foreign Ministry Spox: US-Israeli aggression targets Iran’s existence, national identity

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei says the war imposed by criminal regimes of the United States and Israel on Iran is aimed at the country’s very existence and national identity.

ABNA24 - Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei says the war imposed by criminal regimes of the United States and Israel on Iran is aimed at the country’s very existence and national identity.

Baqaei wrote in a post on X late Saturday that attacks on schools, universities, and hospitals, along with threats to “send Iran back to the Stone Ages,” cannot be interpreted as anything other than deep-seated hostility toward Iran and its people.

He added that some Iranians have been misled by false propaganda from the United States and Israel regarding the motives behind the attacks.

According to the spokesperson, true intentions of the adversaries, which is nothing but a longstanding animosity toward Iran, have become evident through remarks by figures such as Senator Lindsey Graham and Former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon, as well as remarks by American officials, such as their description of the Iranian nation as terrorist.

Baqaei also pointed to unprecedented attacks on civilian infrastructure, including schools, hospitals, research centers like the Pasteur Institute, universities, cultural heritage sites, and production facilities.

All those remarks and such attacks have removed ambiguity regarding the true nature of this war, he noted.

“The war imposed by the United States and Israel against Iran has no aim other than the destruction of Iran and its people. The enemy has targeted the entirety, identity, and roots of this land and its nation. All of us, before both our own conscience and in the judgment of history, will be questioned and held accountable for where we stood in these days,” Baqaei said.

The spokesman added that Iranians have consistently demonstrated resilience in defending their country and dignity, saying the nation remains open to all those committed to its defense, even those who have only recently come to understand the nature of the conflict.

“Iran is our mother and an enduring legacy,” Baqaei said, emphasizing that silence in the face of aggression cannot be justified under any circumstances.
